HBCU Go is turning up the volume for Black Music Month with a month-long celebration of the artists, stories, performances, and cultural moments that continue to shape Black culture and the HBCU experience. Throughout June, the network will spotlight music-driven programming, inspiring conversations, original storytelling, and the unmatched energy of HBCU culture while continuing to deliver the best in HBCU sports and entertainment.
As the leading destination for HBCU sports and culture, HBCU Go’s Black Music Month programming strategy blends live sports, cultural storytelling, music-centered features, and fan-favorite originals into a uniquely curated viewing experience. The month will feature the network premiere of Beyond Ballin’ with Lawrencia Moten, special presentations from National Battle of the Bands: Best of the Battles presented in partnership with Webber Marketing, award-winning original content, and continued collaborations with production partners Miles Ahead Productions and POLARIS.
One of the featured highlights this month is the HBCU Go network premiere of Beyond Ballin’ with Lawrencia Moten. The series opens with a powerful and emotional conversation featuring Moten’s father, legendary Syracuse basketball standout and former NBA player Lawrence Moten. Following his recent passing, the premiere episode now serves as both a heartfelt tribute and a deeply personal reflection on legacy, family, and life beyond the game.
HBCU Go will also celebrate the sound and pageantry of HBCU culture with National Battle of the Bands: Best of the Battles, presented in partnership with Webber Marketing. The special revisits unforgettable performances, iconic halftime moments, and the electric atmosphere that make HBCU bands one of the most celebrated traditions in Black culture.
Additional featured programming includes the Telly Award-winning Earned Not Given: Foggie Raw, where the artist and creative visionary reflects on perseverance, authenticity, and building success through passion and determination. HBCU Go will also continue its collaboration with POLARIS and Miles Ahead Productions through multiple episodes and special presentations spotlighting pioneers and emerging stars from across the culture.
Throughout June, Black Music Month will be enhanced with more than entertainment. Combined with HBCU Go’s signature lineup of sports, cultural programming, and original content, the network continues its mission of educating an audience while celebrating the stories, traditions, and voices that move the culture forward.
From the marching bands to filmmakers, from athletes to artists, Black Music Month on HBCU GO is a celebration of rhythm, creativity, excellence, and impact all month long.
